The Reading Phoenix Choir

Call to Ex-Members

Following the successful 40th Anniversary Events at which Ex-Members met and exchanged news and views, it has been suggested that those who would like to participate in any further re-union or similar event should register their email addresses on our Ex-Members database which, with a few exceptions, currently only has postal addresses. We are always aware of the need to protect your privacy and we can assure you that any email addresses will only be used to give notification of news/events relating to the activities of the Reading Phoenix Choir. If you agree to these conditions and wish to register then please send us an email. In the first instance you will be sent a link giving you access to photographs of the Celebration Concert

Reading Phoenix Choir

Reading Phoenix Choir is a 50 strong mixed voice choir. It is considered one of the finest amateur choirs in the UK. It has members of all backgrounds and ages, with musical experience ranging from music degrees/diplomas to average sight readers, all sharing a love of choral music.

Phoenix does not sing the "works" but explores the whole range of a capella music, early and contemporary, sacred and secular, serious and light. The choir has given over 20 first performances of pieces which have been specially commissioned for the choir.

The choir features regularly on BBC radio and TV, most recently in Songs of Praise in September 2007. The Choir has recently made a new CD recording to mark the 40th Anniversary of the choir.

Our recent tours include visits to Germany/Austria in 2007, Italy in 2005, Finland/Estonia in 2003 and Germany/France in 2001.

Concerts are given all over the country for churches, charities and schools. Once a year we host a concert at the Reading Hexagon.
